It was indeed a successful Tamaraw Month Celebration for 2025 !!

Last October 27, over 200 children participated  in Sablayanihan’s Tamaraw Festival Activities held at Sablayan Municipal Astrodome. Accompanied by their parents, siblings, classmates and neighbours , children age 2-12 years old participated in the series of ecological literacy workshops focused on tamaraws — their apperance, habitat, diet , behavior, tamaraw ecosystem, threats and conservation efforts. The workshop were  divided into different tents with games and fun activities to make learning enjoyable for children such as :

1. Film Showing as an introduction to Tamaraw;
2. Spot-A-Tamaraw, a flash-card game  to practice to describe and pin-point a Tamaraw;
3. Tamaraw-Trail -Walk , a sensory walking activity that simulated the different land surface on which tamaraw walks either in the forest or grasslands:
4. Pass-the-Grass, an activity to identify the plants being eaten by Tamaraw;
5. Make-Your-Own-Tamaraw-Diorama , art activity to show the important and distinctive behavior of Tamaraws;
6. Shrinking-Habitat-Game, a game where children acted like Tamaraws  that encounterered difficulties in securing resources such as water, food and shelter.
7. Tamaraw and Friends, a coloring activity which features the different animals and plants which are important in Tamaraw habitats.
8. Be-A-Tamaraw-Ambassador, a craft activity where children made their own ambassador badges.

During the event, the children were also given empty Tamaraw journals  to document what they’ve learned, write information and attach the artwork that they’ve made during the event. After the completion of the journal, children were entitled to participate in the raffle draw where they’ve won prizes like notebooks, pens. crayons, toys and other small items that they can use in school. Snacks and water refilling station was also set up for children. Lastly, the celebration became more memorable by the surprised appearance of Tamtam, the Tamaraw mascot.
