LAKBAY-KALIKASAN 2025 : Theme "Malibang at Matuto Ngayong Pebrero"

Last Saturday over 200 children accompanied by their parents and guardians gathered in the Municipal Sporthall – Astrodome, to participate in this year’s Lakbay-Kalikasan Festival with the theme : ” Matuto at Malibang Ngayong Pebrero ( Learn and Have Fun this February).

The series of activities were organized as part of Lakbay-Kalikasan Festival of Donate-2-Create: Sablayanihan, an annual ecological literacy program designed to foster children’s deeper understanding and appreciation to the environment through playful and fun activities about nature and biodiversity.

This year’s program was great opportunity to include more interesting, new activities and increase youth volunteer participation. Leveraging the knowledge and skills of volunteers, facilitators and contributors of the program, the activities focused on:

  1. Participation of children with the inclusion of very young children, i.e., 2-year-old and older children up to 13 years old;
  2. Engagement of parents in children’s journey in ecological literacy
  3. Development of empathy to all living and non-living things, and nature in general;
  4. Encouragement of youth participation in volunteering and engagement in ecological literacy activities;

The children enjoyed playing games and nature-inspired activities such as Nature Bingo, Sensory Nature Walks, Leaf Printing, Cleaning Rivers-Clean-Up Game, Biodiversity Coloring, Smell Nature, HappyEarth-Sad Earth Sorting Gaming, Mangrove Pop Up – Food Chain Art, Earth Spinners – Globe Craft and the Recycling Fun Games. In addition, there was a raffle box for all of the participants, 2 photobooth frames with forest and ocean theme , and free snacks/drinking station for children.
